Sint-Truidense VV signed Joedrick Pupe during the season as a reinforcement. The expectations were initially cautious, but Pupe quickly adapted to the rhythm of the Jupiler Pro League. He came over from Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada and had to show in a short time what he was worth. That proved to be no easy task, as STVV was doing exceptionally well as a team at the time. Pupe himself admitted that he needed time to get into the starting lineup. "Especially because the team was doing so well", he told in an interview with Het Belang van Limburg. "I was also not top fit when I arrived here because I had just come back from vacation." Nevertheless, the flank player managed to seize his chance during the playoffs. His speed, work rate, and attacking impulses made an impression within the club. As a result, the question quickly grew whether STVV would definitively want to take him over. STVV has a purchase option in the rental contract of Joedrick Pupe. However, no final decision has been made yet. "There has not been any discussion about it", Pupe said. "I feel that the club is satisfied with my performances, but I have not received any concrete signals about my future yet." The player himself hopes clearly for a longer stay in Limburg. He feels good at STVV and sees prospects for further growth within the Belgian competition. Moreover, the supporters' base seems to be embracing him more and more. The situation remains complex, however, as Vancouver Whitecaps still owns his contract. The Canadian club paid a transfer fee to FCV Dender in the past and may possibly recover a part of that investment. An extra motivation for Pupe to stay is the prospect of European football with STVV. The club has made an impression in the competition over the past few months and dreams of a strong future. For Pupe, that would be an absolute fairy tale. "Five years ago, I was still at Oostkamp in third amateur", he said. "If you had told me that I would be playing European football five years later, I would have thought you were crazy." The attacker emphasized that he wants to stay in Sint-Truiden. According to him, he has built a strong bond with the club and the environment in a short time. Therefore, he sees a longer stay more likely than starting from scratch elsewhere.
